Avuá Cachaça is an artisanal, small-batch sugarcane spirit from the fourth-generation family business, Fazenda da Quinta, in the highlands of Rio de Janeiro.

For the Avuá Amburana, the base distillate is aged for 12-24 months in barrels made of Amburana wood. The seeds of this tropical tree are also used as a substitute for tonka bean as a spice - and the wood also imparts this aromatic characteristic to the cachaça. Therefore, the Avuá Amburana impresses with intense and sweet impressions of cinnamon, vanilla and marzipan, which are accompanied by a light floral note in the aroma.

The taste is a bit spicier and less sweet than the nose suggests, but more complex.

Drinking recommendation

Enjoy the first sip pure - as with any spirit! And actually also the next sips. The Avuá Amburana pure in a nosing glass goes perfectly with a cozy evening in front of the fireplace.

You have to be a little more creative when mixing, because the aroma is initially rather unusual for classic drinks in Europe. Sure, a caipirinha works, but more interesting are creations that deliberately play with the cinnamon in the aroma, such as the "rice pudding cocktail" from Bar Fritzn in Potsdam with Avussa Cachaça, rice syrup and a few other ingredients that remain secret until how the drink is on the menu.

The "Regal Amburana" from Milk & Honey in New York with 6cl Avuá Amburana, 2cl lime juice, 2cl honey syrup and a strip of grapefruit zest (everything shaken) has already achieved some fame and is definitely worth trying.
