Clos des Fous Arenina is a Pinot Noir that is in the other league of Pinot Noir wines.

Elaboration

Harvested by hand from selected high-density vines (7,000 plants / ha). Fermented using the traditional artisanal methods. Slow alcoholic fermentation in cement vats. Matured for 18 months in the new French oak forest of the Vosges (Alsace), prepared by us in barrels.

Properties

The complex nose opens in red fruits, mainly murtilla, cherry and raspberry. Its complexity extends floral notes dominate the native flora such as chamomile, pennyroyal and flower boldo. Notes of minerals complete this aromatic palette with hints of gunpowder, earth and granite. Very much in line with his nasal mouth we find these descriptors, which balance everything with a large volume and a refreshing acidity. Cozy, complete, complex and long wine.

Terroir

Arenaria comes from our Pucalán vineyard, 8 kilometers from the sea in Aconcagua Costa. The old soils (Paleozoic) correspond to deposits of marine calcareous sands that have become rock arenariums. Low fertility soil containing clay surface on top of sea rock. Vineyard: The Pucalán vineyard consists of 4 hectares, planted with a density of 10,000 plants per hectare and divided into 13 different plots according to soil type. These units produce a microvinification of 2,000 to 3,000 kilos. Yields are limited to 800 grams per plant. Pucalán is one of the first 100% Chilean vineyards to be planted with clonal material from Burgundy (clones Romané Vosne mass selection, mass selection from Gevrey Chambertin, 828, 777 and 115).
