CLOS DE FOUS CHARDONNAY "LOCURA 1" - 2016 - CHILE

An impressive, high quality Chilean Chardonnay wine without aging in wood. Following the example of Burgundy. This Locura 1 Chardonnay 2016 from the Clos des Fous winery comes from two different vineyards in the DO Alto Cachapual. The high-altitude vineyards face the Andes. The first vineyard has a deep, sandy and loamy soil, which is interspersed with stones of volcanic origin and rubble. The second vineyard is in the Grillos Cantores growing area.

This vineyard was created by the river Cachapoal and consists essentially of alluvial soils, which are interspersed with limestone. Both vineyards provide perfect conditions for the vines to develop deep roots. The cooler glacier climate of the Andes ensures natural acidity in the grapes.

The vineyards are planted with old, unpoured Chardonany vines and are cultivated according to organic farming methods. This creates the basis for expressing the properties of this unique terroir in wine. The Locura 1 Chardonnay 2016 has a golden yellow color with greenish reflections. The bouquet offers a wide range of aromas of peach, pear and white flowers, which is rounded off by the characteristic creaminess of the Chardonnay grape. It expresses its full potential on the palate. Freshness, shine, complexity, paired with a long and mineral finish.

"Locura 1", a Chardonnay, according to our taste, which couldn't be more different from the well-known Chardonnay wines from Chile! Great cinema from Chile, you should have tried it! The German translation of this wine is "The Crazy One".
