Product description
FLAHERTY CARMENÈRE RESERVA - 2019- CHILE
Limited annual production!
The Carmenère is a rainbow of aromas and flavors. Roasted red peppers, soy sauce and dried cherries are complemented by oolong tea, cake spices and wild berries. The medium-bodied wine has fine tannins with aromas of toasted oak and a long finish of dark chocolate. We think this wine will age well for 10 years, but it's so aromatic you probably can't wait that long.
The Flaherty Carmenere is the first that we have produced at Flaherty Wines. Our visitors to the winery have always asked us if we've made a Carmenere, so why not? The semi-desert climate of the Aconcagua Valley is optimal for aging Carmenere with its aromas of black plum, roasted red pepper and soy sauce. Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up 24% of the blend, adds red cherries and spicy tannins. Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon come from the Ocoa vineyard and were hand-picked on May 8, 2018. The floors are an alluvial fan of silt and granite stones. Fermentation takes place in small open fermenters with prolonged maceration before aging in American and French barrels for sixteen months. This wine must be drunk before 2028.
