MIGRATION OF MATTER - VASE "TANNEN" - 3D PRINTING CERAMIC

BIOPHILIA COLLECTION - Translating nature in detail

Migration is a word with strong political, social and human connotations, which is steeped in history and emotion. It is a reality that mobilizes the world. For the Migration of Matter project, Peruvian designer Cindy Valdez has joined forces with Australian industrial designer Nicholas Perillo, to create new designs inspired by the patterns of nature, biodiversity and digital technology, in their Berlin studio.

“TIMES ARE CHANGING, AND IT IS TIME TO GIVE OUR BIODIVERSITY AND EVERYTHING BEHIND IT, THE IMPORTANCE IT DESERVES. THIS IS THE MESSAGE WE TRY TO TRANSMIT WITH OUR WORK.”

The Biophilia collection utilises technology as a means to reflect on issues around biodiversity of flora, food and local resources.

Each piece tells a unique story and is created through a fusion of crafts, parametric design and new technology in clay 3D printing.

Asthetically, inspiration comes from little known, weird and wonderful plants and food. The intention of this collection is to bring awareness to the importance of biodiversity and the use of local resources. Physically, each piece incorporates local clays and pigments from the same regions as the objects being reimagined. This results in beautiful, unique artifacts. 3D technology enables the exploration of patterns within nature, embodying them in a unique series of ceramics.
