LINA LO BARDI - BOOK
Brazil's alternative path to modernity
On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Brazil's most important modernist architect and designer
The Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992) shaped her own creative path with expressive designs: in architecture, in stage design, in fashion and furniture design as well as in graphics, she took up impulses from international modernism, but processed them completely individually. The basis of her work was the reflective examination of her adopted country of Brazil, its culture, society and politics. Bo Bardi represented their sometimes radical views productively and provocatively through designs, exhibitions and writings. On the occasion of Lina Bo Bardi's 100th birthday, the opulent illustrated book presents the architectural work and pays tribute to central architectural icons, such as her own house, the so-called Casa de Vidro, the Museo de Arte de São Paulo or the cultural center SESC Pompéia.
