PEDREGAL TANNAT - URUGUAY 2020
Awards: 17.5 points VINUM Wineguide: Tannat from around the world (03 | 2023) DE
"Green olives and fennel, a vegetal profile. Wild berries and forest floor. Herbal notes. Juicy on the palate, robust and with character. Irish moss and malty notes. Very elegant and subtle. The tannin is very well integrated. Enormous length." (Vintage 2018)
Dark red color with aromas of dark fruits, sour cherry, fig, chocolate. Smoky notes and traces of vanilla and spices are noticeable in the mouth. As is the case with a Tannat, the tannins are particularly pronounced and present. But for a short time, they lie down over the palate and do not overlap the taste, but lend it its character. The pedestal spends six months in barrique barrels. Pedregal reveals a few things about the soil in which the vines are rooted: stone deserts are pedregal in German. A dry soil, interspersed with stones and pink granite rocks, whose minerals decisively influence the body of the wine.
