Product description
MONTES "ALPHA" CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVA - 0,75L - 2021 - CHILE
The Cabernet Sauvignon by Montes Alpha has an intense, deep ruby red color. The nose is elegant and complex with distinctive aromas of violets and red fruits (wild cherry), hints of blackberries, prunes, dark chocolate, black pepper and cigar box, finely lined with notes of French oak barrique, such as vanilla, butter caramel and coffee.
Taste
Perfectly balanced on the palate, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon shows its true class and finesse, with powerful, well-matured and well-integrated tannins, great structure and dense varietal aromas, medium body, but with beautiful fullness and long, slightly peppery finish.
Fits well with
Favorite on meat dishes, from T-bone steak to veal cutlet in Cabernet sauce, leg of lamb, roast pork rib, game and wild ragout to Mongolian beef and other specialties of Asian cuisine, to Oriental dishes or to dark chocolate.
manufacturing
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon come from Montes' famous Apalta winery, near Santa Cruz, in the Colchagua Valley. All grapes are read by hand at optimum ripeness, brought immediately to the winery, completely destemmed, mashed and fermented separately according to grape varieties and parcels. After completion of alcoholic fermentation and an extended maceration period, during which the wines concentrate a maximum of the dense aromas, color and tannins from the skins, they are matured for twelve months in new and used French oak barrels. Shortly before bottling, Montes adds to the Cabernet Sauvignon the small 10 percent share of Merlot, which gently emphasizes the fruity character of its alpha wine and completes it harmoniously.
Ground
Whether it was the sandy soils or the good geographical protection that spared Chile from phylloxera, the researchers argue. What is certain is that such a parasite would have a hard time penetrating into the land that is firmly enclosed by the Atacama Desert in the north, the Andes Mountains in the east, the Arctic in the south, and the Pacific Ocean in the west. The climatic conditions in Chile are perfect for viticulture; not least because of the large variations in temperature between day and night, which can be up to 20 ° C, when after the heat of the day the cold winds blow from the Andes into the valley and bring cooling to the vines. An intricate Inca-era irrigation system fed by the glacial meltwater of the Andes supplies the vines with sufficient water during the dry summer months.
Wine note
Montes Alpha was the first Chilean premium wine, groundbreaking in its day and still as sensational as it was in its first year. Originally, there was only the Cabernet version: a very concentrated, perfectly elegant and refined wine, which clearly showed what class Chilean wines can achieve. The grapes ripen in the vineyards of the famous Finca de Apalta in the Apalta Valley, southwest of the capital Santiago de Chile, a region that today is considered one of the best - if not the best - region for Chilean red wine. Over the years, other grape varieties were added: Montes Alpha Chardonnay, Montes Alpha Merlot and most recently the superbe Montes Alpha Syrah.
